Never. Using magic to fit in with the locals, yes, magic having different rules, yes - the world itself doing something like this, not so much.

Between you and me, we've been to a bunch of worlds. This is definitely the first one that has done stuff like this. But it's also the first world I've been _kidnapped_ by, so.
